10 DAYS / 09 NIGHTS ORANG UTAN & LEUSER NATIONAL PARK EXPEDITION

Trek deep into the Sumatran jungle on a 10-day expedition. Witness wild orangutans, hike through Leuser National Park, and discover hidden waterfalls.

Sumatra is one of the last two places in the world where you can see wild orangutans at large in the wild. About 100 km northwest of the capital, Bukit Lawang is a riverside town on the edge of Mount Leuser National Park. In the past, this village was a kind of sanctuary for orangutans and although no longer exists, it is still a good basis for watching our red-haired cousins. Mount Leuser National Park is listed by UNESCO as one of the most biodiversity areas of the planet and will be the chosen destination for our jungle expedition in Sumatra.

Please also check our 06 days Explore Nature of Leuser National Park, elephant & Orang Utan

The park is home to hundreds of species of other mammals and birds, most of them rare or endangered. A private guide is essential during the visit, both to help us locate the orangutans in the jungle dens and to protect the delicate ecosystem. During Sumatra Orang Utan Expedition 10 Days, we will make numerous walking routes inside the jungle and have the opportunity to experience how it feels to spending several nights camping in the middle of nature.
